📘 Seller Guide
Learn how to list products, create auctions, and start selling on Finnfabrik.
👋 Getting Started
▶Finnfabrik supports two types of sellers:
- Business Sellers: Businesses registered in Finland with a valid Finnish Business ID (Y-tunnus). Can use fixed-price listings and auctions.
- Private Sellers: Private individuals without a Business ID. Auctions only.
- Register as a seller on Finnfabrik (choose Business Seller or Private Seller)
- Complete verification — Business Sellers use their Finnish Business ID (Y-tunnus)
- Log in to your Vendor Dashboard
- Add your first listing — fixed price or auction
- Publish your listing and start selling
💰 Fixed-Price Listing
▶ℹ️ Business Sellers only. Private Sellers can sell through auctions only.
A fixed-price listing allows buyers to purchase your product immediately at the price you set.
- Go to Vendor Dashboard → Products → Add New
- Select "Simple Product" as the product type
- Enter title, description, and images
- Set the Regular Price
- (Optional) Set a Sale Price for promotions
- (Optional) Add Quantity Discounts using Price Tiers
- (Optional) Use Dynamic Pricing Rules to adjust prices automatically
- Set available quantity and selling unit
- Select the appropriate Category
- Add pickup, delivery or EXW information
- Click Publish
📌 Tip: Use quantity discounts to encourage larger orders. For example: 10% off for 5+ units.
📏 Sell Using Your Own Units
▶Finnfabrik supports common business selling units:
Ideal for timber, building materials, aggregates, metal products, agricultural goods, wholesale and export sales.
🏆 How to Create an Auction
▶An auction allows buyers to place bids on your product. Both Business Sellers and Private Sellers can create auctions.
- Go to Vendor Dashboard → Products → Add New
- Select "Auction" as the product type
- Enter title, description, and images
- Set the Starting Price
- (Optional) Set a Reserve Price — the minimum price you are willing to accept
- (Optional) Set a Buy Now Price — allowing immediate purchase at a set price
- Set the Auction Duration (recommended 7–14 days)
- Select the appropriate Category
- Add pickup, delivery or EXW information
- Click Publish
⚠️ Important: Bids placed in an auction are binding under the auction/listing terms. The winning bidder is expected to complete the purchase and pay according to the payment terms shown in the listing and the applicable order instructions. If a Reserve Price has been set and the reserve is not met, the auction does not result in a sale at a price below the reserve.
🎯 Buy Now & Reserve Price
▶🎯 Buy Now Price
Allows a buyer to purchase an auction item immediately at the price you set, instead of waiting for the auction to end. Useful when you want to combine competitive bidding with an immediate purchase option.
Reserve Price
Allows you to set the minimum price you are willing to accept for an auction item. If the auction ends below the Reserve Price, the auction does not result in a sale at the lower bid amount.
📌 Tip: Use a Reserve Price when protecting a minimum acceptable selling price is important.
🔄 Fixed Price or Auction — Choose One
▶Each product listing can use one sales method at a time: either Fixed Price or Auction.
💰 Fixed Price
Offered at a set price — buyers can purchase immediately.
✔ Best for: Standard products, repeat sales, available in quantity
Business Sellers only
🏆 Auction
Buyers compete through bidding. Winning bid determines the price.
✔ Best for: Unique items, surplus stock, used equipment, market-driven pricing
All sellers
⚠️ Note: To offer the same product both ways, create two separate listings with their own stock quantities where applicable.
💳 Payment After Winning an Auction
▶The winning bidder is expected to complete the purchase and payment according to the payment terms shown in the listing and the applicable order instructions.
Fixed-price products are paid for through checkout at the time of purchase.
If payment is not completed, the seller should contact the buyer directly to resolve the matter. Further action regarding an unpaid order should be handled by the buyer and seller in accordance with the listing terms and applicable law.
Finnfabrik does not act as a mediator or referee in disputes between buyers and sellers. Finnfabrik may provide technical or administrative assistance with Finnfabrik-related issues where appropriate.
📦 Pickup After Purchase
▶Unless otherwise agreed, the buyer should arrange pickup with the seller and collect the goods within 14 days after payment. The buyer and seller may agree on a different pickup period, and the listing may specify different arrangements.
If the buyer does not collect the goods within the agreed deadline, the seller should contact the buyer directly to resolve the matter.
Finnfabrik is not a party to the underlying transaction and does not store the goods or arrange collection between the buyer and seller. Any further action regarding an unpaid or uncollected order should be handled by the buyer and seller in accordance with the listing terms and applicable law.
🌍 EXW for Wholesale & Export
▶For wholesale and export sales, you can specify an EXW (Ex Works) location.
- EXW means the buyer is responsible for arranging collection and transport from the seller's specified location.
- You can specify the EXW location when creating your product listing.
- Delivery and shipping costs are not included in the sales price unless stated otherwise.
📌 Example: "20 m³ Finnish planed timber — EXW Kuopio, Finland"
For larger B2B, wholesale and export transactions, buyers and sellers may agree on payment arrangements suitable for the transaction, such as Letter of Credit (L/C), Cash Against Documents (CAD), or Documents Against Acceptance (D/A).
Finnfabrik can provide general information about these options. Exact payment, delivery and transport terms are agreed between the buyer and seller and may involve their respective banks or other financial institutions.
💰 Selling Fees & Commission
▶No registration, monthly, or withdrawal fees.
Business Sellers: Free to list — no listing or monthly fees.
Private Sellers: First 3 active auctions are free — then €5 per additional auction.
